A Brief History

The hardware behind this style of EQ comes from a modern inductor-based design philosophy that looks back to classic German broadcast equalisation. The unit that inspired this pack is officially described as a fully discrete Class A active equalizer with transformer-balanced inputs and outputs, Baxandall-style high and low shelves, and a custom inductor mid band.

That matters because the older German broadcast lineage, especially designs inspired by the Siemens W295B, became respected not for surgical precision but for the way they shaped sound musically. The curves were broad, the tone was substantial, and the results often felt more like enhancement than correction.

Modern interpretations of that idea kept the transformer depth, inductor behaviour, and Class A tone path, while making the format more practical for current production work. The Iron Age-Man Inductor EQ Emulations preserve that same spirit in Genesis.

Click CAL to ensure the input is calibrated correctly in Genesis. Start with the Red Drive at the 12 o'clock position, back it off for less EQ colour or increase it for more harmonic tone and analog character.
