A Brief History

The hardware behind this pack was introduced as a high-end dual-channel Pure Class A microphone preamplifier and quickly became known for its transparency, very low noise, enormous headroom, and fast transient response. Official product information consistently describes it as the fourth generation of the manufacturer’s fully discrete symmetrical Class A microphone preamp design, building on earlier models while expanding the feature set and refinement.

Part of its reputation came from combining a very clean and open signal path with high-voltage operation, selectable input loading, instrument inputs, and a variable passive high-pass filter. Engineers valued it for sources that needed detail, width, and authority without obvious smear or excessive coloration.
