This pack is built around a focused set of time and ratio combinations that highlight the unit’s musical grip, transformer colour, and fast-reacting control. It delivers the kind of tight, authoritative compression that has long been associated with powerful drums, assertive vocals, and punchy instrument buses.

From smooth dynamic shaping through to more aggressive limiting behaviour, British F760 gives you a compact but highly useful set of analog-style compressor emulations for Genesis.

The 2:1 emulation is the gentlest of the set, offering smooth and supportive compression for vocals, overheads, guitars, and mix elements that need subtle control.

The 3:1 emulation gives a firmer hold and more obvious dynamic shaping, making it a useful choice for bass, kick, snare, and more assertive vocal work.

The 5:1 Peak Limiter emulation pushes further into classic limiter behaviour, delivering the stronger punch, edge, and transient control this style of British dynamics unit became known for.

A Brief History

The F760 emerged from a family of British dynamics designs that developed out of limiter technology introduced in the late 1960s. Reliable historical sources trace the line back to earlier single-function limiter modules before it evolved into a more sophisticated rackmount format combining compression, peak limiting, and expansion or gating in one system.

That combination made the design especially flexible. It could behave as a controlled compressor, a tighter peak limiter, or a more characterful dynamic shaper depending on how it was set. Over time, it became strongly associated with punchy, larger-than-life drum sounds, but it was also valued on vocals, guitars, and other sources where engineers wanted authority without softness.

The British F760 Compressor Emulations preserve that same spirit in Genesis: fast, characterful, and highly practical dynamic control with a distinctly British studio attitude.

How to Use It in Genesis

Click CAL to ensure the input is calibrated correctly in Genesis. Start with the Red Drive at the 12 o'clock position, dial it back for less compression or increase it for more compression and character.
