The preamp emulations focus on the core front-end behaviour of the hardware, from a more balanced medium setting through to a stronger, more harmonically developed high-gain response.

The line emulations give you the tonal character of the signal path at several graduated levels, allowing you to add the hardware’s transformer-based finish to buses, stems, instruments, and already recorded material without relying on the full preamp gain structure.

Together, these emulations provide a flexible collection of transformer tone, from subtle enhancement through to more assertive analog colour.

A Brief History

The original 110 module was designed in the 1980s as part of a custom console project commissioned for AIR Studios. Reliable manufacturer and industry sources consistently trace its origins to Rupert Neve’s work for Sir George Martin, where the goal was to create a preamp and EQ path with exceptional clarity, musicality, and transformer-based depth.

That design later became the foundation of the broader ISA family, which went on to gain a major reputation in both tracking and mixing environments. What made it stand out was the balance it achieved: smooth top-end openness, clear transient handling, and enough transformer weight to keep sources sounding grounded and substantial.

That combination is what made the design so useful across vocals, acoustic instruments, drums, bass, and orchestral recording. The Focus AX 110 Preamp Emulations preserve that same studio-minded balance in Genesis.

How to Use It in Genesis

Click CAL to ensure the input is calibrated correctly in Genesis. Start with the Red Drive at the 12 o'clock position, back it off for cleaner tone or increase it for more drive and harmonic colour.
