The AnalogX Poly Synth Distortion Emulations capture the distortion character of a fully analogue performance synthesizer, bringing real synth-style drive, tone shaping, and output-stage attitude into Genesis.

Rather than focusing on oscillators or filter sweeps, this pack concentrates on one of the most musically useful parts of the instrument: its built-in analogue distortion and tone path. The result is a set of emulations that range from subtle box tone and light colour through to more obviously overdriven, aggressive synth distortion.

A Brief History

The hardware behind this pack comes from the modern revival of classic analogue synthesizer design. Its wider design pays homage to the portable analogue synthesizers of the 1970s, especially the era when compact keyboard instruments became central to progressive rock, electronic music, synth-pop, and studio production. What made instruments in this family so enduring was not only their oscillators and filter response, but the way their analogue circuitry could add density, aggression, and musical imperfection when pushed.

That is exactly what makes the distortion section worth capturing on its own: it is not generic clipping, but part of a larger analogue synth signal path with its own distinct tone, weight, and character.

How to Use It in Genesis

Click CAL to ensure the input is calibrated correctly in Genesis. Start with the Red Drive at -24

Use the BOX TONE captures when you want analogue synth colour with a lighter touch.

Use the BOX TONE OVERDRIVE and higher DISTORTION settings when you want more obvious grit, stronger harmonics, and a more aggressive synth-style response.

The different TONE settings can help you choose between darker, thicker drive and a more forward, cutting distortion character depending on the source.

These emulations work especially well on synth basses, leads, drums, FX returns, parallel buses, and any source that benefits from analogue edge and movement.
