The AnalogX Transformer Series 2.0 - Kobalt Edition brings the sound of the Kobalt transformer path into Genesis, rebuilt using our HQ 2 Technology for enhanced shimmer, midrange clarity, analog density, and refined transient shaping.

As the follow-up to the Eisen Edition, this pack explores a different side of the Flux transformer platform. Where some transformer voicings lean more heavily into weight and thickness, Kobalt is especially useful when you want polish, presence, and a more refined sense of harmonic contour.

This edition also includes bonus compressor settings from the Mag 2 platform, giving you not only transformer tone on its own, but additional settings that reflect how the hardware behaves in a more complete processing context.

The LOW, HOT, and MAX emulations cover the core transformer drive range, from restrained harmonic lift through to fuller and more assertive analog saturation.

The TIME and ratio-labelled emulations extend the palette with bonus Mag 2 compressor settings, giving you access to more shaped dynamic behaviour and a broader view of how the Kobalt path contributes inside the larger processor design.

A Brief History

The Kobalt transformer sound comes from the Flux section of a modern German analog processor designed to bring tape-like behaviour and transient shaping into a more flexible studio format. Official descriptions of the hardware explain that the different Flux modes, Eisen, Kobalt, and Nickel, use different transformer-based analog approaches to mimic different styles of saturation and transient rounding.

What makes Kobalt especially interesting is that it sits in a more refined part of that palette. Independent reviews of the unit describe Kobalt as particularly useful when you want to bring back high-end openness and clarity after compression or shaping, while still retaining the analog-style contour and musicality of the Flux stage.

That gives Kobalt a different role from a heavier transformer voice. It is not only about density, but also about balance, sheen, and the ability to add polish while preserving punch. The Kobalt Edition preserves that flavour in Genesis, while the included Mag 2 compressor settings extend it into a wider, more mix-ready toolkit.

How to Use It in Genesis

Click CAL to ensure the input is calibrated correctly in Genesis. Start with the Red Drive at the 12 o'clock position, back it off for less saturation or increase it to increase harmonics.
