The Vintage Bluey AX 1176 pack brings the unmistakable sound of the classic Blue Stripe FET compressor into Genesis, rebuilt using our HQ 2 Technology for fast, aggressive, and highly musical dynamics control.

Known for its forward midrange, lively harmonic character, and explosive timing behaviour, this early FET compressor design has remained a favourite for engineers who want compression to do more than control levels. It adds urgency, attitude, and presence in a way that feels instantly familiar on vocals, drums, bass, guitars, and parallel buses.

From firm vocal control to smashed room mics and punchy instrument compression, Bluey AX 1176 delivers the kind of characterful FET behaviour that helps a mix feel energetic and alive.

What’s Inside

This pack includes a full set of Blue Stripe style emulations covering the most widely used ratio, drive, and tonal behaviours of this classic FET design.

Included emulations:

A complete set of Blue Stripe style compressor emulations, calibrated for authentic compressor drive behaviour and harmonic response inside Genesis.

Each emulation is calibrated at -18 RMS, with the Red Drive starting at -24 for the intended compressor response. Increasing the Red Drive adds more movement, harmonic texture, and compression density, while backing it off gives a lighter touch.

A Brief History

The Blue Stripe version of this famous FET limiter traces back to the original Revision A design introduced in 1967. It is widely regarded as the earliest commercial form of the circuit, and it became especially well known for its higher distortion, vivid midrange presence, and more aggressive amplifier behaviour compared with later revisions.

Historically, this design mattered because it helped define the move from earlier tube limiter concepts into a fast solid-state format. That gave engineers a new type of compressor: quicker, brighter, and far more assertive, capable of dramatic dynamic control while still preserving punch and excitement.

That personality is what made the Blue Stripe revision so enduring. It could behave with control when used gently, but it also had the ability to become gritty, explosive, and unmistakably alive when pushed hard. The Bluey AX 1176 emulations preserve that earlier, more colourful side of the design inside Genesis.

How to Use It in Genesis

Click CAL to ensure the input is calibrated correctly in Genesis. Start with the Red Drive at the 12 o'clock position, dial it back for less compression or increase it for more compression and character.
