The LIN emulations are voiced with some corrective EQ for broader use beyond guitar sources, making them especially useful on bass, drums, synths, and full-range material.

The EMPH variants introduce pre/post high-end emphasis for a smoother, more tape-like top-end behaviour while retaining the pedal’s aggressive core.

The higher pinch settings lean into stronger gating, sharper attack, and more extreme fuzz behaviour, while the lower or more moderate settings provide a slightly fuller and more controlled presentation.

Together, these emulations cover everything from dense low-end fuzz through to tighter, more spluttering gated tones.

A Brief History

This style of fuzz pedal became especially distinctive because it was designed to retain sub frequencies in a way that most fuzz pedals did not. Official product materials describe it as a bass-oriented design that holds on to the lowest lows while also featuring a gentle gate and a control set that can move the sound between heavier bass emphasis and brighter attack.

That was a big part of its appeal. Instead of collapsing into loose or flabby fuzz, it could stay tight, huge, and strangely focused. The Pinch control became central to its reputation, introducing a gated, pulse-like behaviour that made the pedal feel both chaotic and controlled at the same time.

Those qualities helped it move beyond bass into guitar, synth, and experimental use, where its mix of heavy low end, glitchy gating, and exaggerated fuzz character made it a cult favourite. The Mammoth Fuzzy Pedal Emulations preserve that same spirit in Genesis.
