AnalogX - V-MU Compressor Emulations (GENESIS)
Exclusive to Genesis | Modelled at 48k | Powered by our HQ 2 Technology | Calibrated to -18 RMS | Red Drive at 0
IMPORTANT - Requires GENESIS v2.1.0 or higher for True Stereo profiles to load and for these emulations to run on GPU
A Completely Resampled Variable-Mu Compressor:
This pack has been completely resampled and corrected. What we previously believed to be a STAR-style unit was in fact sampled from a different V-style variable-mu compressor, and this updated release now reflects the actual hardware identity and behaviour of the source unit.
The AnalogX V-MU Compressor Emulations bring the weight, density, and musical control of a classic broadcast-inspired tube compressor into Genesis, rebuilt using our HQ 2 Technology for smoother envelope behaviour, richer harmonic response, and more realistic analog compression.
From gentle levelling to thicker, more forceful compression, this pack gives you a broad range of variable-mu behaviour for vocals, bass, drums, guitars, synths, buses, and full mixes.
What’s Inside
This pack includes a full range of HQ 2 emulations based on the unit’s single, double, and triple recovery modes.

The Single recovery emulations provide the most direct and controlled response, making them useful for steady levelling, vocals, bass, and restrained bus work.
The Double recovery emulations add a slightly more animated compression movement, offering a strong balance between control, density, and musical flow.
The Triple recovery emulations lean further into classic variable-mu behaviour, giving a more obvious sense of movement, bloom, and vintage-style dynamic shaping.
Across all three mode families, the stepped recovery variations let you choose how quickly or how generously the compressor breathes with the source.
A Brief History
This style of compressor grew out of the classic broadcast variable-mu tradition of the 1950s, where tube-based gain reduction was used to control programme material in a smooth, natural, and highly musical way. These circuits later became prized in recording studios because they could shape dynamics with weight and authority without sounding rigid or mechanical.
Modern recreations of that design philosophy kept the core appeal intact while expanding the usefulness for current production work. Faster recovery options, stronger drive capability, and more flexible operating modes made this class of compressor attractive not only for vintage-style levelling, but also for punchier drums, thicker bass, and more characterful bus compression.
That is exactly why this processor is so useful in Genesis. It preserves the broad, opulent, tube-driven behaviour that made variable-mu compression famous, but in a format that can move easily from subtle control to more committed analog density.
How to Use It in Genesis
Click CAL to ensure the input is calibrated correctly in Genesis. Start with the Red Drive at 0, decrease the drive for less compression and increase it for more compression and character.
PRO TIP: If you want heavier compression, engage the X2 button and then dial back the compression amount with the Red Drive. This works like using two compressors in series, spreading the work more evenly rather than asking one compressor to do everything on its own.
