The 1.5 Clip emulation is the gentlest of the set, ideal when you want subtle control, a little extra edge, and cleaner loudness enhancement on vocals, acoustic material, or mix buses.

The 1.5 Soft Clipper emulation adds a slightly rounder clipping character, useful when you want a touch more warmth and smoothing while still retaining precision.

The 3.0 Clip emulation delivers a stronger and more balanced clipping response, making it a solid choice for drums, guitars, synths, and full-range buses.

The 6.0 Clip emulation is the most aggressive in the pack, designed for bold, modern clipping applications where level, punch, and controlled edge are a priority.

A Brief History

High-end mastering converters became especially important because they allowed engineers to preserve extremely fine detail at the final stage of the analog-to-digital path. Some of the most respected designs earned their reputation not only through transparency, but through the way they behaved when pushed close to full scale.

In that context, converter clipping became a specialist technique. Rather than relying entirely on conventional limiting, some engineers used carefully chosen converter stages to gain a little extra loudness, edge, and density while keeping transients more intact than they might with heavier downstream processing. The best converters made this possible because their analog front ends, calibration systems, and overload management were designed with exceptional care.

The Dream ADC Clipper Emulations preserve that idea in Genesis: not clipping for destruction, but converter-style clipping as a controlled mastering tool that can add punch, loudness, and finish without losing the musical core of the mix.

How to Use It in Genesis

Click CAL to ensure the input is calibrated correctly in Genesis. Start with the Red Drive at the 12 o'clock position, back it off for lighter clipping or increase it for more clipping, loudness, and harmonic edge.
