🧬 A Brief History

The 1178 was the stereo successor to the legendary 1176, designed for engineers who wanted the same fast FET compression but with true stereo operation. While it never achieved the same fame as its mono sibling, those who used it knew exactly what it could do.

It became a secret weapon on drums, percussion, synth buses, guitars, and aggressive vocals. Faster attack times, a slightly different circuit topology, and stereo linking gave it a tighter, more modern edge compared to earlier designs. In many studios, the 1178 lived permanently across drum buses and parallel chains because nothing else could deliver the same controlled aggression.

Today, original units are rare, expensive, and often inconsistent. This pack preserves that sound exactly as it should be.
