The Hitmaker’s FET Compression:
The AnalogX 1176 Rev D CLA Compressor Settings pack brings a focused set of classic FET compressor emulations into Genesis, rebuilt using our HQ 2 Technology for fast attack, musical aggression, and mix-ready dynamic control.
This pack is centred around four widely used ratio settings associated with a classic Rev D workflow, giving you practical access to the kind of punch, grip, and forward energy that engineers rely on across vocals, drums, guitars, synths, and parallel buses.
From smooth level control to harder, more obvious compression, these emulations are designed to give you the kind of lively FET behaviour that helps sources feel immediate, controlled, and finished.
What’s Inside
This pack includes four HQ 2 emulations based on classic ratio-driven Rev D compressor behaviour.
Included emulations:
1176_REVD_CLA_4_1_HQ_v2.gen
1176_REVD_CLA_8_1_HQ_v2.gen
1176_REVD_CLA_12_1_HQ_v2.gen
1176_REVD_CLA_20_1_HQ_v2.gen
The 4:1 emulation is ideal for smoother vocal and instrument control where you want compression to stay musical and supportive.
The 8:1 emulation adds firmer grip and more obvious control, making it a strong all-round option for guitars, synths, drums, and general mix shaping.
The 12:1 emulation leans further into assertive limiting behaviour, useful on more dynamic sources that need stronger containment and punch.
The 20:1 emulation is the most aggressive of the set, well suited to drum crush, parallel compression, and more forceful effects-style dynamic shaping.
A Brief History
The Rev D belongs to the blackface era of this famous FET limiter design, which followed the earlier blue-stripe versions from the late 1960s. By this stage, the circuit had evolved into a lower-noise and more refined form while retaining the speed, punch, and unmistakable character that made the design a studio standard.
What made this compressor so important historically was its move into fast solid-state operation at a time when many earlier dynamics tools were still tube-based and slower in feel. It gave engineers a new type of control: sharp, energetic, and capable of grabbing transients without making a source feel flat.
The Rev D became especially valued for balancing control with tone. It could sound smooth and polished in ordinary compression roles, but it could also become bold, urgent, and highly characterful when pushed. These emulations preserve that ratio-based FET behaviour in a simple, mix-ready Genesis format.
How to Use It in Genesis
Click CAL to ensure the input is calibrated correctly in Genesis. Start with the Red Drive at the -24 position, increase it for more compression and character.
