This collection moves well beyond single-colour captures. It includes console-style chains, compressor-led chains, cassette and telephone textures, op-amp and transistor flavours, and more complex hybrids that stack multiple analogue behaviours into one usable Genesis emulation.

Several captures are arranged by drive level, making it easy to choose between cleaner tone, more assertive saturation, or full overdriven colour depending on the source.

A Brief History

The Colour Palette platform was developed as a modular analogue format designed by and for the DIY audio community. The core idea was simple but powerful: take a range of desirable analogue circuits, place them on small swappable modules, and let users build their own signal path around them.

Official materials describe Colours as ultra-compact pluggable analogue circuit blocks, while the Palette provides the power, controls, and support circuitry. Earlier design notes show that the format was developed over roughly a year and a half before launch, with a strong emphasis on experimentation, interchangeability, and real analogue saturation in a compact 500-series footprint.

That modular philosophy is what makes the platform so interesting for Genesis. Rather than emulating one single device, this collection brings the modern producer a broad ecosystem of analogue personalities and chain combinations that can move from subtle varnish to obvious oblivion.

How to Use It in Genesis

Click CAL to ensure the input is calibrated correctly in Genesis. Start with the Red Drive at -24.

Use the lower-drive and simpler chains when you want subtle analogue enhancement, console-style depth, or controlled saturation.

Use the higher-drive, overdriven, cassette, distortion, and telephone chains when you want stronger texture, attitude, and more obvious creative colour.

Because many of these captures stack multiple analogue stages, small gain changes can produce very different results. Start conservatively, then push harder as needed.
