AnalogX - Telefunken M15 Tape Emulations (GENESIS)
Exclusive to Genesis | Modelled at 48k | Powered by our HQ 2 Technology & Pro-X LSTM | Calibrated to -18 with the Red Drive at Unity (12 o'clock)
IMPORTANT - Requires GENESIS v2.1.0 or higher for True Stereo profiles to load and for the emulations to run on GPU
A Tape Legend Reborn for the Modern Mix:
The AnalogX Telefunken M15 Tape Emulations bring the tone of a revered European tape machine into Genesis, rebuilt using our HQ 2 Technology for analog warmth, smooth tape compression, and rich harmonic finish.
This updated pack now also includes additional Pro-X LSTM models. These supplementary CPU-only profiles give users a cleaner, noiseless alternative, ideal when you want the tonal behaviour of the machine without modelling the inherent noise and flaws of old vintage tape hardware.
That means this collection now gives you both sides of the workflow: HQ 2 models for the full vintage machine character, including the subtle imperfections that make old tape feel real, and Pro-X LSTM models for cleaner day-to-day use where a noiseless response is preferred.
From subtle glue and gentle high-end smoothing through to fuller, hotter tape colour, Telefunken M15 Tape Emulations give you a practical range of tape flavours for buses, stems, full mixes, and individual sources.
What’s Inside
This pack includes both tape-path emulations and No Tape emulations based on the machine’s electronics-only monitoring path, alongside additional Pro-X LSTM noiseless models for CPU-based use.
Included HQ 2 emulations:
M15_NO_TAPE_HQ_v2 (Stereo).gen
M15_NO_TAPE_(RIGHT)HQ_v2.gen
M15_NO_TAPE(LEFT)HQ_v2.gen
M15_HOTTER_HQ_v2 (Stereo).gen
M15_HOTTER(Right)HQ_v2.gen
M15_HOTTER(Left)HQ_v2.gen
M15_HOT(Right)HQ_v2.gen
M15_3Vu_WARM_HQ_v2 (Stereo).gen
M15_3Vu_WARM(Right)HQ_v2.gen
M15_3Vu_WARM(Left)HQ_v2.gen
M15_HOT_HQ_v2 (Stereo).gen
M15_HOT(Left)_HQ_v2.gen
The No Tape emulations reproduce the full electronics path of the machine with no record head engaged, giving you the tone of the tape monitoring audio path alone. These are ideal when you want the analog character of the machine’s circuitry without the fuller influence of active tape saturation.
The 3Vu Warm emulations offer a gentler tape-style response, adding weight, smoothing, and musical warmth while remaining controlled and mix-friendly.
The Hot emulations lean further into tape compression and harmonic colour, making them useful when you want more obvious analog thickness and glue.
The Hotter emulations push the machine harder again, delivering a stronger tape-style imprint, fuller saturation, and heavier tape compression.
The additional Pro-X LSTM models provide a cleaner CPU-only option for users who want the tonal contour and dynamic response of the machine without the inherent noise floor and flaws that are naturally preserved in the HQ 2 vintage-style models.
A Brief History
The M15 was introduced in the early 1970s and became known as one of the most serious professional tape machines of its era. Period and specialist sources consistently point to its transport design as one of its defining strengths, with exceptional stability, precision engineering, and the kind of mechanical refinement that made it highly respected in studio and broadcast environments.
A later M15A version refined the electronics while preserving the essential strengths of the platform, and the machine became especially well established in German and European recording, radio, and mastering settings. Part of its long-standing appeal comes from the balance it strikes between technical accuracy and unmistakable analog character: stable, open, controlled, and musical rather than exaggerated.
That combination is exactly why the M15 remains such an attractive machine to emulate today. It is not only about obvious tape saturation, but also about the quality of the transport, electronics, and signal path that helped recordings feel smooth, finished, and confidently analog.
How to Use It in Genesis
Click CAL to ensure the input is calibrated correctly in Genesis. Start with the Red Drive at the 12 o'clock position, back it off for less tape saturation or increase it to increase tape harmonics and compression.
