A Brief History

Modern solid-state saturation circuits emerged as a more controlled alternative to classic tube and tape colour, offering engineers a way to add harmonic richness, density, and energy without the softer, less predictable behaviour associated with older designs.

Rather than aiming for vintage bloom or compression-heavy coloration, these circuits became valued for their precision. Good solid-state designs could preserve low-end structure, sharpen transient impact, and scale from subtle enhancement to assertive drive while remaining stable under heavier use.

That made them especially appealing on mix buses, drums, synths, and mastering chains where clarity and impact had to be preserved alongside tone.

Click CAL to ensure the input is calibrated correctly in Genesis. Start with the Red Drive at at the 12 o'clock position and either drive to add more saturation or back off the drive for less.
