The Vintage Hello is F700 is one of those mythic pieces of studio gear that people talk about but very few ever get to use. Built in the 70's for classic H consoles the F700 was a brutally powerful compressor that could take drums from thin and lifeless to explosive larger than life and dripping with attitude. It is famous for shaping some of the most iconic rock drum sounds ever recorded including the legendary ambience and weight behind John Bonham on When the Levee Breaks.

🧬 A Brief History
The original consoles were built in the 1960's and 70's for some of the greatest studios in the world including Olympic Island Sound Helios Manor Mobile and Musicland. Their discrete class A design transformer based signal path and unique circuitry gave them a sound that became the backbone of countless classic rock records.
The F700 compressor sometimes labelled F760 or Compex in other variations was designed as a console mounted dynamics module capable of compression limiting gating and expansion. It became infamous for its fast timing aggressive tone and the way it could make drums explode with energy. Engineers loved it because it could turn a simple kick or snare into a thunderous statement.
It is one of the most recognisable drum compressors ever made and remains extremely rare. The line stages of the F700 further contribute a beautiful vintage tone even without compression with a character that is warm gritty punchy and unmistakably seventies.
